Following on from my post yesterday, I am sharing the flowers my Dear Other Half brought home. It had all my favorite Autumn colors. You will also see my Thanksgiving Turkey (also a little early) and the Pilgrim birds again. The cute basket Mr. Thomas Turkey is sitting in is part of one of the gifts from my son and daughter-in-law from last Christmas. It stays out all year round.
"Listen! The wind is rising,
And the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings,
now for October Eves."
~Humbert Wolfe~
~October by Robert Frost~
"O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away."
~October's Party by George Cooper~
"October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came.
The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band."
