Mask Wednesday - Auria LED Light Therapy Mask ~ 3 Light Settings, and Before & After 8 Weeks of Use

Happy Mask Wednesday - I'm sooo excited about this post because I have been trying out this mask for over two months and I have thoughts to share!

(Also, spoiler alert, if you already saw my February Favorites post, then you know I love this, but it always deserves a full post so you can see if it's something for you or not!) I have done some research and will share my thoughts, but if this is a technology you are interested in trying I would also urge you to look in to anything yourself - I'm not a skincare expert, just an enthusiast who is always looking to improve my skin!

I purchased this mask - this post contains affiliate links

Auria LED Light Therapy Mask ~ $79.00 CAN. Live well. Do well. Be well. Auria's LED Light Therapy Mask offers three different L.E.D. light therapies. Simply hold the power button for three seconds to turn on and then choose the one you need.

I have been interested in the LED Light Therapy masks for some time, but I have a difficult time paying for a $500 one or going or paying clinical prices to try out something that I'm not sure about! Will the clinical or higher end at home product offer better results?! Likely, but to me it's still worth trying the technology out if I can find a more affordable option to see if I even get small results and if I like them or not.

First off, from the research I've done, LED Light Therapy does look to help improve skin (each light does things slightly different), but of course, at home treatments are not as effective as a clinical treatment. Also, this mask is flat and not form fitted, so it will also offer results slower than a form fitting mask (not researched - just my thoughts!) I'm not a researcher, so I've read a few things and the information was enough for me to want to try it out for myself!

What's not conclusive about the research is eye safety - because it was inconclusive, do not let these pictures fool you, I wear eye protection all the time (it's just super creepy to take a selfie with a mask on wearing my little tanning goggles - I took a 30 second video, so my eyes should be fine). I could not find evidence if closing your eyes was effective enough in preventing any damage, and I don't want to take any risks). I wear tanning goggles on the red and amber light settings, and I wear my blue light glasses on the blue light setting. It's a nice 15 minute time to lay down and listen to a book and I've made it a part of my nightly routine.

This is recommended to be used for 15-20 minutes at a time, and needs approximately 2 hours of charging time! I plug mine in when my little guy goes to bed and it's ready for me to use as I'm getting ready for bed.

What I will agree with is the charge this holds will make it to just the recommended time usage - in the beginning I was timing it and it turned off itself between 14 and 22 minutes while I was wearing it. I think the amber light runs out the quickest and the blue light lasts the longest - I'm not sure if it's relevant at all to the light that is used. I've seen in other reviews that this is frustrating; however, it doesn't bother me - it lasts the recommended wear time and it's not something that I would use over the suggested time, so it's fine by me!

Here is a look at the different light therapies and what they are meant to target! Red Light is good for scarring, wrinkles and blood circulation, Amber light is meant to help even complexion and stimulate collagen and Blue Light is good for targeting acne causing bacteria.

Personally, I cycle through all of these - I will use this for 3 nights in a row on all the different settings, and then take a night off from use and carry on. The only time I didn't was around the time I was experiencing hormonal breakouts and then I would use the blue light setting for 3 days in a row. This worked great in conjunction with other skincare products in helping with acne and improving the look of my skin.

And most importantly here is a look at the before and after approximately 8 weeks apart - as always I never edit my skin photos. The first was taken at the end of December when I was experiencing the results of one of my worst hormonal breakouts (actually what tipped me over the edge to try this mask out), and then just over 8 weeks later towards the end of February. This obviously isn't a miracle worker, and I didn't use it on it's own, but do I think as a staple product in my routine it helped overall? Yes! Honestly, I tend to pick at my spots and I thought this is great for scarring as well as evening out my skin tone. I still have spots and marks and redness, but I do think it's reduced and my acne clears quicker as part of a targeted routine.

The Auria mask itself is exclusive to Indigo (I also have a Plum Plus so I got 10% off as well) - this looks to me like one one the most affordable LED masks on the market, and honestly, I don't really see myself needed to upgrade to a product that's $500 + - I think with long term use and realistic expectation of results, this one works really great for me and I'm really happy with my purchase!

What are your thoughts on LED Light Masks?! Is it something you would try out?
