A Sacramento high school donated 800 dresses to Paradise students for their Winter Ball - KRCRTV.COM

Dresses at Paradise High School's temporary location in Chico.

The Camp Fire affected Paradise High School students in unimaginable ways. The students were supposed to have their annual Winter Ball event in December, but it was cancelled amid the devastating blaze.

But, thanks to the kindness of a high school from the Sacramento region, Paradise High School had dresses to wear to their Winter Ball - but that's not all. Pleasant Grove High School is using funds from their Kindness Week to pay for 100 percent of the costs of their Winter Ball, which will be held in February. A belated winter dance, still being held despite all the setbacks

Pleasant Grove High School, a school in Elk Grove, visited with Paradise High School on Saturday at their temporary location in Chico by the airport. The ASB class brought 800 dresses, in addition to collared shirts and shoes, for the Paradise High School students to try on ahead of the Winter Ball next month. They also brought several seamstresses to alter any of the dresses.

In a statement sent out to Pleasant Grove High School students and families, the staff at Pleasant Grove said, "The community of Paradise has been all but eliminated due to the Camp Fire. As a result, the leadership class at Pleasant Grove has decided to take the kindness we usually celebrate within PG on the road."

Pleasant Grove leadership students were also featured on Good Day Sacramento, to encourage people to donate winter ball dresses.

Normally, the leadership students distribute over 500 gifts on their own campus to students in need, but when they heard what happened to the kids in Paradise, they wanted to show them kindness.

"Our school is fine, we have what we need and we have plenty to spare so why not try and help out another school. It won't help them fix everything but we can give them some hope," said Zachary Newbold, a leadership student at Pleasant Grove High School. He says he got the idea to do this for Paradise High School after his cousin lost everything in the Camp Fire. He says it hit close to home.

The leadership students spent all day in Chico setting up the dresses and helping the Paradise students find the perfect dress for them.

Smiles filled the room as the Paradise students picked out the clothes.

Pleasant Grove High School will be paying for 100 percent of the costs of the Winter Ball for Paradise High School slated to happen in February.
