In the same post, the President of Sierra Leone, Koroma said he had sacked Sam Sumana for abandoning his official duties to which the Vice President, Sam Sumana said he would contest in the supreme court as the President does not have the constitutional power to sack him.
President of Sierra Leone, Koroma has followed his words with action and in defiance of critics he has gone ahead to appoint Mr. Victor Bockarie Foh, Sierra Leone's Ambassador to China as the new Vice President.
President Koroma's short statement of appointment of a new Vice President was read out on national radio and television. It said:
"The general public is hereby informed that following the vacancy which occured in the office of the Vice President and pursuant to Section 54(5) of the constitution of Sierra Leone 1991 (Act No.6 of 1991), it has pleased his Excellency the President to appoint Mr. Victor Bockarie Foh (photo-left) as Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone with immediate effect"
