Skin type: normal to oily, acne-prone and sensitive
(tends to get dry patches in winter)
Greetings everyone,
I found this product randomly and bought it to figure out whether it prevents breakouts or not. Earlier, I have used Pond’s Pimple Clear White Multi-Action Facial Wash and didn’t get any benefits from it. I couldn’t finish and still have that. Let’s read further to know how Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel fared.
Price: INR 99 for 20 g

How to Use:
For acne control, apply the gel onto all areas of your face that are prone to breakouts
My Experience with Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel:
Packaging:
The product comes in a white coloured, easy to squeeze, sleek tube packaging with a screw cap. The tube has a nozzle-type opening that let you dispense the right amount of the gel. There is not much information provided on the tube.
The tube has a outer cardboard packaging which is very similar to the face wash from the same range. The cardboard box houses all information about the product in detail. Overall, the packaging is basic, functional and travel-friendly.
Texture and Fragrance:
Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel is a lightweight gel. The formula is non-sticky and the gel has a very smooth texture. The consistency is just perfect – neither thin nor thick. It glides over the skin smoothly and easily without making it sticky. The gel is not milky or transparent, but somewhere in between. To be exact, it looks more like a translucent milky gel that goes transparent over the skin without leaving any milky or whitish cast behind.
The fragrance is weirdly peachy. I don’t know what I was expecting in terms of fragrance, but definitely not peaches. Though the fragrance is nice, it’s too strong, which sensitive nose may or may not like. I have a sensitive nose and I find the fragrance strong but not off-putting.
To be honest, I am not able to describe the fragrance as I couldn’t remember anything to which resembles it – other than peaches. However, after a couple of minutes of application, the fragrance dissipates.
Usage:
The usage is very easy and there is no difficulty or confusion in this. After cleansing and toning the face, I take appropriate amount and apply a thin layer over the chin and jawline twice a day. I tend to break there the most. If you have breakout anywhere else, you can apply it there too. You can even use it all over the face. It spreads over the skin easily and gets absorbed into the skin super quickly as if I haven’t applied nothing.
It does not make my skin dry, like other acne control products. In a couple of minutes, there you are ready for further steps. After the gel gets absorbed, I move forward with the skincare routine; in the morning I use sunscreen with SPF 50 on the top and in the evening I use a night cream.
One thing to remember: if you apply a thick layer or try layering the product, it does not get absorbed that easily. Nonetheless, you will find it balling up when moving forward with further skin care products. Hence, to prevent this, apply a thin layer as it gets absorbed easily.
Now, the brand recommends to use this gel with the Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash. As I mentioned earlier, I had tried that face wash a year ago and it didn’t benefit me.
I don’t like when they make you use the products just from the same range. It looks like the product cannot stand on its own effectively. I don’t even believe in using shampoo and conditioner from the same range. However, as recommended, I tried using it with the face wash as well.
Results:
The result of using Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel is crystal clear and there are no ifs and buts. The very first question – does it treat acne? Yes. It does treat acne, but not in the span of 3 days. The claim of clearing up acne in 3 days is overrated. Though, it speeds up the healing and drying process of acne.
For instance, if you have small pimples, it will dry them up in a couple of days. However, if you have big or full-blown cystic acne, it is not going to be cleared up in 3 days. If without this gel a pimple takes more than a week to heal, then with this gel the healing time is lesser. It gets dried up in 5-6 days, but not 3 days.
The bigger concern after treating acne is their scars. So, does it prevent acne from leaving scars behind? No, not completely. Though it does not prevent acne from leaving a scar behind, that scar is less visible than what it would have been without using the gel. My dermatologist told me that the intensity of the scar left behind is directly proportional to the time that acne had been there.
Thus, you must have seen that a small pimple and zit treated overnight or in a couple of days is unlikely to leave the scar behind. Hence, I think that following the same concept this gel minimizes the visibility of acne scars as it speeds up the drying process.
At last, does it prevent breakouts? No. It does not. While using it I still get pimples. I step out of the home and still return back with zits. Hence, it does not prevent breakouts. You must be wondering if made any difference when I used with Pond’s face wash. No! It didn’t make any difference.
However, if the face wash worked for you then you may get more benefits from the gel as well, and it may prevent breakouts also. But again, I am not sure how will it work as the face wash didn’t work for me. It made my skin dry and I needed extra moisturisation in this dry weather.
Overall, Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel is good enough as a spot treatment for acne, but the claim of 3 days doesn’t work. It is non-sticky and non-drying acne clearing gel that speeds up the process of healing and drying and makes the acne leave a lighter scar behind. As an acne-controlling product, I don’t think it does any justice.
Pros of Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel:
⦁ Easy to use, travel-friendly packaging
⦁ Lightweight gel
⦁ Non-sticky and non-drying
⦁ Treats small pimples effectively
⦁ Speeds up the drying and healing of acne
⦁ Works better as a spot treatment for acne
Cons of Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel:
⦁ Strong fragrance
⦁ Does not live up to the claims of 3 days
⦁ Does almost nothing to prevent breakouts
IMBB Rating: 3.8/5
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Pond’s Pimple Clear Leave-On Expert Clearing Gel?
I wouldn’t be repurchasing as my only purpose of trying this out was to figure if it will prevent breakouts or not. There are many ways to treat acne, but preventing them is a big deal as well. I always step out with a clear face and come home back with either a zit or a pimple.
I have acne-prone skin and I am already on prescribed topical treatment for preventing breakouts. Hence, I wouldn’t be repurchasing it. However, if you are looking for a non-sticky, non-drying spot treatment that would be mild and speed up the drying and healing process at the same time, then go for it. But, do not expect any miracle and clearing of acne in just 3 days. It speeds up the process, but not clears them all in 3 days at all.
